The Most Powerful Tool for Changing Your Life: Acceptance

Acceptance means having the capability to accept or allow anything. In saying this, I'm probably triggering many who are reading this. In our normal world, we've been taught not to accept things that are bad or that we don't like. However, this mindset is completely out of alignment with the laws of the universe and how energy works.
When you don't accept something, you create a blockage and stop the normal flow of energy. While boundaries are important, there's a crucial nuance here. When you aren't able to step into the paradox of accepting something while creating a boundary around it, you create blockages and limitations. This prevents you from entering the state of unconditional fearlessness needed to master your life from an energetic standpoint. When you accept something, you're not saying you want it or inviting it into your life - it's actually the opposite.
Let me share an example: My driving instructor told me to keep my eyes on the road. If I focused on a tree, I might actually run into it because I'm focusing on the thing I don't want to hit. Similarly, when you don't accept something, you're focusing on it, fixating on it. Both the things we love and the things we hate attract us. The laws of energy in the universe state that whatever we focus on will become fixed and manifest. If we can't accept and allow something to flow through us, we're actually drawing it to us - including outcomes we don't want.
It's very important in energy work to practice acceptance, though it's challenging because we've been programmed to reject certain things. It might take us to uncomfortable places. For example, if you're angry about a particular political party and think, "I don't accept you, you are bad," you're actually drawing that energy into reality according to universal laws. The recommendation is to fully accept it - not with head in the sand and wishy washy permissiveness, but in seeing it fully and energetically accepting it, allowing its energy to flow with courage, trust, and surrender. Let it flow through you rather than block you.
This relates to Jesus's teaching to "love thy enemy." Unconditional love is this type of acceptance - seeing and accepting completely. In qigong, we can go a step further. While the acceptance piece is most important, we can also bring energy into the situation to support ourselves in helping difficult energies move through us. This keeps us open, preventing our attention from becoming stuck on things we don't want. We want our consciousness to be free to visualize what we do want, unburdened and released from fixations.
A practice I like to do involves accepting/allowing, then bringing in energy to activate our acceptance. What happens next is always interesting - appreciation naturally follows. Gratitude is the natural side effect. This is the "3 A's" practice I was taught: Accept/Allow -- Activate with energy -- Appreciate. When we can let go of what's been fixating us, we naturally feel thankful for the practice and the freedom from being bound by things we don't like.

This is a wonderful practice for daily life. Start with something easy, like accepting a family member leaving underwear on the floor. Then you can move on to more challenging things to accept, like anger over a political party or someone you strongly disagree with.
It's crucial to achieve full equanimity before taking action. Accept before acting! Only when you reach a state of full unconditional acceptance are you free to act from your full life mastery power.
